Thomas Deacon Academy

Thomas Deacon Academy was one of the first Academies to be created and is Peterborough’s flagship Academy offering a personalised learning environment for students aged from 7 to 18 years. Our modern facilities are set in a 43 acre campus and include the Senior Academy, TDA Junior: a purpose built, self-contained learning environment for KS2 children and TDA6, a purpose built study centre for Y12 & Y13 students.
Our fully enclosed, gated campus helps keep students safe throughout the day and our Academy Values: Trust, Discipline and Aspiration are central to our approach, setting out expectations in the behaviour of all students and professionalism of staff within our Academy, allowing us to provide the ultimate in educational choice. All at TDA are encouraged to share these values with the wider community, becoming positive ambassadors for Thomas Deacon Academy.
Our flexible but disciplined approach to learning and our active engagement in developing the whole person, within and beyond the classroom is the key to our success. Our specialism is the STEM subjects – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths – but we are also passionate about music, the arts and sports. We offer an extensive extra-curricular programme which includes the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh Awards and this, coupled with teaching and learning at TDA, enables us to develop young people to take their place in a complex world.
Employees at the Academy are a highly valued resource and this is demonstrated in our commitment to the personal development of our staff; we offer outstanding professional development opportunities, with a high-quality induction programme for NQTs. A robust CPD programme is in operation, with allocated time for staff and employee opportunities include leadership programmes for teaching and associate staff, as well as personal development in ICT, data, and job specific skills.
