Phoenix School

The Phoenix School is a designated mixed day Special School by the DfES. This school caters for boys and girls between the ages of two and nineteen years of age. The Local Authority determines the maximum roll.
Following full consultation through an extensive Local Authority Special Schools Review the Phoenix School was established in September 2004 through the merger of two established special schools within the city of Peterborough. The school comprises of 3 single storey buildings with excellent teaching and learning resources. The Phoenix School was the result of an extensive refurbishment and the development of new buildings and facilities all of a very high standard. Quality recreational areas have also been assured by providing outside landscaped seating areas and play equipment.
Other facilities include: Sensory Room, Sensory Theatre, Soft Play Areas, School Kitchen, Food Technology Area, Sensory Integration Room, Parents/ Professional Meeting Rooms, Atrium, Hall, Music Room, Adventure Play Areas and Sensory Garden, disabled access.
At the Phoenix we look at the whole person, planning realistic programmes to meet the intellectual, social, spiritual, moral, cultural, physical, emotional and therapeutic needs of each pupil. These needs are most effectively met by pursuing a child centred approach that is undertaken by a team of talented professionals.
