Leighton Primary School

Leighton Primary School is a vibrant, happy school where the children are at the heart of all we do. Our talented staff and Governors are fully committed to the children and our dedication to making a difference to their lives is the biggest and strongest achievement to our school name. All of our visitors who come into the school comment on the excellent behaviour of our children within a calm and inspiring learning environment.
Since our Requires Improvement OFSTED judgement in July 2013, the Staff and Governors have worked endlessly to make rapid improvements to the standards across the school. At Leighton Primary School, it is our aim to ensure that all children achieve to their very best potential, that we meet End of Key Stage expectations and that we provide the children with aspiration and life long opportunities when they leave us in Year 6.
Our Curriculum at Leighton is enhanced through strategically planned links to exciting and purposeful themes that we incorporate into our Maths and English work. We pride ourselves on the investment we make into allowing the children to access a wide variety of first hand learning through out of school visits and welcoming people with a specific expertise and knowledge into school for enrichment days.
In line with our behaviour policy the school carries out termly token treat days that reward a consistently good and positive attitude.
Leighton Primary School provides particularly good sporting and technology provision for the children through our skilled teachers and excellent resources. We promote e safety very strongly throughout the school and extend this work to our parents and community. As a school we offer a wide range of out of school activities which are funded by the school and along with our own staff these are complimented by high quality specialised sports coaches.
The school puts the welfare of the children as our priority and ensures our children feel secure and well looked after in our care. The school provides a free breakfast club each morning which is staffed by volunteers. This is to ensure that all of the children attend school regularly and have a good grounding for the school day ahead. Our breakfast club has 100 children access this provision on a daily basis.
